The ARTx3 Campus is seeking a creative and organized Curator to shape exhibitions and care for collections at an American Alliance of Museums-accredited organization. This role focuses on bringing art and culture to life — researching, acquiring, and preserving pieces while crafting engaging exhibitions that connect with the community. Collaboration with artists, scholars, and staff ensures dynamic, meaningful displays that align with ARTx3’s mission to engage, educate, and entertain. A passion for storytelling through art and making culture accessible is key to success in this role.
The Curator plays a vital role in the growth of the museum by being responsible for assembling, cataloging, managing and presenting/displaying artistic and cultural collections that are exhibited on the ARTx3 Campus. This position requires a combination of strategic thinking, creativity, and organizational skills to ensure that the museum's exhibition aligns with its mission.
HOURS: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m to 5:00 p.m.
The ARTx3 Campus is the convergence of art, creativity, and community in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The campus features three facilities: The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas (ASC), The ARTSpace on Main, and ART WORKS on Main. All three facilities present programming in the visual arts, performing arts, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) education through exhibitions, performances, classes, and local partnerships.
Founded in 1968, ASC is accredited with the American Alliance of Museums and features a permanent art collection focusing on art by African American artists, Arkansas artists, and art of the Delta; three exhibition galleries; an interactive youth activity space; and the 232-seat Catherine M. Bellamy Theater. The modern and multipurpose ARTSpace and ART WORKS facilities host live music, local and regional art, diverse multidisciplinary workshops, and small productions. The ARTx3 Campus aims to empower our community through the arts, support the revitalization of Downtown Pine Bluff, bolster the creative economy, and bring positive attention to our city.

Job Description
Administrative Duties:
- Collections management: Directly manages and oversees collection of artwork for the museum, including acquisition, documentation, housing, use, preservation, disposition, and maintenance.
- Collections care: Maintaining appropriate storage conditions, rehousing collection objects, labeling and tracking objects, and various department initiatives as needed.
- Select artists and exhibit their work on the ARTx3 Campus.
- Exhibition Design: Install/deinstall exhibitions, special exhibition-based events.
Program Development:
- Oversee the retail gallery space. Work with the gallery assistant to select artists and arrange the space.
- Collaborate with education and programming teams to help with lesson plans and activities that coincide with the exhibitions in the gallery spaces.
- Research and identify potential artists that resonate with the community and promote cultural enrichment.
- Develop innovative and engaging exhibitions initiatives within the gallery spaces.
Fundraising and Development:
- Write and submit grants to obtain funds to support exhibitions.
Planning and Coordination:
- Work with the Executive Director to create detailed project plans for exhibitions and in the retail space as well as timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate with the gallery assistant in the retail gallery on artwork and project planning.
- Oversee logistical arrangements of all exhibitions in all gallery spaces.
- Ensure best practices and safety protocols for all exhibitions.
Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with local artists, educational organizations, and communities served by ARTx3 to strengthen partnerships.
- Develop strategies to attract audiences to museum exhibitions.
- Work with local schools to bring in school exhibitions such as senior shows.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in arts administration, museum studies, arts, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in museums or museum management.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize deadlines, and delegate tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build relationships.
- Proficiency in budget management, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in museum management.
- Passion for the arts and culture.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.
